Many photo groups on
Flickr have "365" projects, which means each photographer attempts to take at least one photo each day for a whole year, posting each photo to the group. Most of these projects have themes.
One of them is
bokeh, which -- simply put -- means the out-of-focus part of the photo, and its relative quality. Usually, "bokeh" refers to the circles created by out-of-focus points of light. For you non-photographers, have a look at
my Bokeh set on Flickr to see what I'm talking about. For you photographers, its best to use a longer lens with a wider aperture.
Longer lens = better bokeh
Wider aperture = better bokeh
Greater distance from subject to background = better bokeh.
Anyway, here's my first submission to the project (1/365), though it's clearly not my best production of bokeh.
